Grant Sutherlin, Director of Sales and Acquisitions

As the second generation of AirMart, Grant has been in general aviation his entire life. True to his passion for flying, Grant soloed on his 16th birthday - before getting his driver's license - and has been flying for more than 20 years. He is a commercial, instrument and multi-engine rated pilot.

Grant brings a background in finance and talent for negotiation to the family tradition of aircraft sales. He and his wife Kim took the reins to AirMart in 2003.

As Director of Sales and Acquisitions, Grant works hard to stay one step ahead of the general aviation marketplace. Understanding what airplanes can be bought and sold for is critical for an inventory dealer. Grant knows that the information needed to make marketable acquisitions and to represent our clients well does not simply come from loading up the latest appraisal software. It comes from putting in the hours, asking the right questions and listening to the voice of experience.

What Grant likes best about working with AirMart is that he has the opportunity to share his true passion with others. "It's not like work when I get to do what I love every single day." He specializes in Beechcraft and Piper.

When Grant isn't following aircraft trends or making acquisitions, he is usually biking, swimming, or running. He also enjoys water skiing on Lake Cumberland and flying remote control airplanes. Originally from Somerset, Kentucky, Grant lives in Lexington with Kim and their two children.

Kim Sutherlin, Director of Marketing and Administration

Business management and creative writing may not seem like complementary pursuits. Kim Sutherlin has a passion for both. She studied English/Communications before beginning her professional career with the Marriott Corporation. After several years in big-box corporate management, Kim started and then sold her own advertising and web design company. She also holds a Kentucky real estate license which has proven helpful in negotiating and writing aircraft purchase agreements.

As Director of Marketing and Administration, Kim is responsible for AirMart's overall marketing strategies, including public relations and social media. She is the company liaison for employee, tax, and legal communications, and ensures AirMart's client agreements are clear, concise, and up to date.

What Kim likes best about AirMart is listening to the stories each customer has to tell. She especially enjoys learning from entrepreneurs who through the spirit of perseverance have recreated themselves many times over.

When she's not revising contract language or brainstorming new marketing avenues, Kim values the time she spends with her children. She is an avid reader, amateur photographer, and aqua-bike enthusiast. Originally from Chicago, Kim lives in Lexington with Grant and their two children.

Kelle Neal, Office Manager

Kelle knows a thing or two about traveling; being in an army family means she has moved many times.  She calls upon her calm, competent demeanor to assist clients, team members, and partners with a smile.  Whether it's resolving billing questions, making travel arrangements, or keeping the office running smoothly, Kelle is the consummate administrative professional.

Kelle earned her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology degree from the University of Kentucky.  Learning to fly has been something Kelle has always wanted to do, so she is excited about being a part of the general aviation community.  She looks forward to the adventure of flying solo and getting to see the world from a different point of view.

When she's not solving IT problems or managing the office budget, Kelle is an avid reader who has an interest in architecture and world travel. She is also a devoted animal lover (which office dogs Baron and Carly take full advantage of on a regular basis.) Kelle lives in Lexington with her husband and her adorable toddler.

Austin holds an Airframe and Power Plant License (A&P) from Somerset Community College in Somerset, KY and is looking forward to earning his Inspection Authority (IA) certification soon.

Robert Crawford, Aircraft Mechanic

Robert’s interest in flying took root from a grass airstrip built by his grandfather.  A Cessna 152, 172 and a T-34 were the first aircraft Robert spent time flying with his father.  After pursuing other career opportunities, Robert returned to his love of aviation and earned his A&P Mechanic License and an Associate’s degree in Aviation Maintenance Technology from Somerset Community College.

Robert was born and raised in Brodhead, KY, and now calls Lexington home.  Whether it’s fly fishing, mountain biking, or camping, Robert can usually be found outdoors when he is not maintaining aircraft at AirMart.  Robert also enjoys flying drones.  He finds the freedom and excitement of flight his favorite part of aviation.

Robert’s enjoys the challenge of working with the diverse inventory that lands in AirMart’s hangar. It's not just his favorite part of working in aircraft sales: it’s also why he is an integral part of the AirMart Aircraft Maintenance team.
